Apple iPhone Manufacturer Wants To Launch Two New EVs In America, But It Needs Help

Foxconn, the Taiwanese manufacturing company that is best known for assembling Apple’s iPhone, has announced new plans to establish itself in the North American car market with two new electric vehicles set to debut by the end of the decade. With its only existing automaker partners, Fisker and Lordstown, now both out of the picture after bankruptcy, Foxconn is reportedly shopping around for new partnerships to help get its projects off the ground.

An event was reportedly held yesterday in which Foxconn executive Jun Seki pitched the company’s new EV strategy to a room full of global automakers and partners. The details include multiple new electric vehicles with rough plans to assemble them in the markets they are sold, which is a smart move in today’s tariff-heavy economy. But production will start in Taiwan, likely for models destined for other markets outside the U.S.

Available Models

Fisker

Fisker, Inc is an electric car company that was founded in 2016 by Henrik Fisker. Based in Manhattan Beach, California, its cars were manufactured by Magna in Graz, Austria. The first vehicle from the startup was the Ocean, which started production in 2022.

New Global EV Models From Foxconn

Foxconn and Mitsubishi reportedly already have plans to introduce the Taiwanese manufacturer’s Model B design in the Australian and Taiwanese marketplaces by 2026, but it’s yet to be confirmed. The Model B as previewed is a compact, somewhat sporty-looking crossover.

Is Nissan Destined For Success Or Failure? We Went Behind The Scenes To Score Its Chances Of Success

We got up close and personal with Nissan in Japan, talking product, tech, and a whole lot more. Here’s how we score its chances of survival.

Talking Or Walking?

Foxconn was previously reported to be in talks with several Japanese automakers for potential partnerships on future EVs, including Honda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan, the latter of which once employed Jun Seki. It’s also been reported discussions are currently underway for a multi-way partnership between Foxconn and a group of other automakers. “Japanese carmakers are careful planners, and we understand that but are also very fast,” Seki said. “We can do things faster while understanding Japanese prudence.”

New US EVs Planned

The first planned US EV from Foxconn is a redesigned Model C, which is already on sale as the Luxgen N7 in Taiwan. It will begin early feedback trials based in the US in late 2025, the company announced. It features either one or two 172-kilowatt motors in either rear- or all-wheel drive configuration. It features either a 58- or 83-kWh battery pack and the most powerful version boasts 460 hp.

A second US-built EV, the Model D, is slated for 2027 launch, and it will feature air suspension, unlike the Model C. It’s likely Foxconn is interested in partnering and even selling these models under a different, established brand name.
