You can argue all day long about what makes a muscle car and what doesn’t, but most enthusiasts agree on two things: It has to make a ton of horsepower, and it has to be cheap.
With those two metrics in mind, the Dodge Charger might be one of the best muscle cars of all time. That’s the brand-new Dodge Charger Daytona, we mean. Because you can now buy a brand-new Charger EV for less than a four-cylinder Mustang.
Not officially, of course. The lowest possible MSRP for a brand-new Dodge Charger Daytona EV is $51,090, including destination. That’s with the $10,500 in discounts Dodge is currently offering cash customers. Lease customers can get $5,000 in Dodge incentives plus another $7,500 in EV lease incentives.
Even Half-Price Is Possible For Brand New Chargers
But roll up to your local Dodge dealer, and you could find nicer cars for a lot less cash. Hit up Cars.com and Autotrader, and there are Dodge Charger Daytona R/T models listed for as little as $36,932. If you want to stay under $50,000, there are plenty of cars to cross-shop – different colors and options, with original sticker prices well into the $70,000 range. There were even cheaper ones on offer, but, unsurprisingly, they got snapped up. The Autopian actually found one listed at a dealer for just $30,125. It’s since been snapped up, but that was less than half of the sticker price.

Dodge Charger Daytona’s Dual Stripes Are Cooler Than You Think
It made its first public debut at the returning Spring Fest in California.
That’s if you want the 496-horsepower, all-wheel-drive R/T model, which you can get for less than, say, a 315-hp Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium or a 300-hp Toyota GR Corolla. It’s less than every car on our cheap, fast cars list, and it makes more power than any one of them.
700-HP Scat Packs Get Great Deals Too
But if that’s not enough, there are more bargains to be had. The 670-horsepower Scat Pack can be yours for as little as $52,390. For a car with, and we’re going to say this again, 670 horsepower. The original MSRP for that one was just over $75,000. There are plenty of similar advertised prices around the country, letting you pick the model you want.
Where else can you find a new car with 670 horsepower for under the $75k sticker, let alone with $23,000 off? We can’t find any examples that beat this cheap horsepower value. The closest vehicles on the market are all significantly more. Even used, this is a tough deal to touch.
