A Honda 4-Cylinder-Powered Sports Car Has Never Looked This Wild

  • The T63 prototype features a carbon fiber chassis and weighs just 1,984 lbs (900 kg).
  • Power comes from a Honda Civic Type R-sourced 2.0-liter turbo’d 4-cylinder engine.
  • Tera S Motor’s founder has successfully led racing teams in Thailand over the years.

When you think of lightweight, track-focused sports cars, the UK is probably one of the first countries that comes to mind. Thailand, on the other hand, isn’t exactly known for producing driver-focused sports cars. But that hasn’t stopped one local from founding his own car company and building a carbon fiber sports car.

});

The company is called Tera S Motor, and its impressive debut model is the T63. Founded in 2020, the brand revealed a concept version of the T63 late last year. Most recently, the car was showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show, following a design philosophy similar to that of some of Britain’s best track-inspired machines.

At the core of the T63 is a carbon fiber chassis that serves as the base for this featherweight track weapon. Powering it is a 2.0-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine sourced from Honda, the same unit that powers the Civic Type R. In its current setup, the engine is tuned to produce 350 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, channeled through a 6-speed Sadev sequential transmission driving the rear wheels.

While the prototype is limited to 350 hp, the production model will reportedly see that number rise to 500 hp. With this power on tap, the T63 is expected to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just around 3 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Racing-Inspired Design and Engineering

Despite being a relatively new name in the automotive world, Tera S Motor didn’t skimp on performance features. The T63 weighs in at just 1,984 lbs (900 kg) dry, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber body panels. Its design takes heavy inspiration from racing prototypes, sporting an enormous rear wing, a distinctive shark fin, and a diffuser designed to keep the car glued to the road.

The sports car also features gullwing doors for that extra “wow” factor, and rides on 18-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in racing slick tires.

As for the brakes, the T63 comes equipped with six-piston AP Racing calipers up front and four-piston calipers at the rear. The suspension is equally serious, with double wishbones at both ends and adjustable anti-roll bars to fine-tune the car’s handling.

} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“9b1169d9-7a89-4971-a77f-1397f7588751”);
}
});

Of course, there’s a big difference between building a single prototype and launching a production model, so there’s no guarantee the T63 will ever hit the roads. However, with more of the market transitioning to EVs, we’d love to see another race-car-inspired monster like this hit the market.

}
});
