This Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Ann. Lost Nearly $50K After Just 3,600 Miles

  • Cadillac built just 120 examples of the special model to commemorate its 120th anniversary.
  • This particular CT5-V Blackwing was dedicated to the year 1920 and is painted in Black Raven.
  • The original owner also opted for carbon ceramic brakes and plenty of carbon fiber parts.

Fast and powerful V8 super sedans may be fading into obscurity, but one of the standout models in this shrinking category is the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. It’s the American challenger to the BMW M5 and packs an impressive punch. However, despite its performance credentials, collectors don’t seem all that interested in the limited 120th Anniversary Edition that Cadillac released three years ago.

Cadillac took the wraps off this limited-run version of the CT5-V Blackwing back in April 2022, with just 120 examples produced, each dedicated to one year of the brand’s existence. The first car sold at auction for $250,000. Fast forward to April 2025, and this Black Raven car sold for $96,500, despite an MSRP of $142,530 and just 3,600 miles (5,800 km) under its belt.

Sure, that’s still a lot of money, but it’s a far cry from its original price tag, which means it’s taken quite a depreciation hit – down $46,030 to be exact. Ouch.

This particular CT5-V Blackwing is dedicated to the year 1920 and features the Black Raven paint job, which is complemented by 19-inch alloy wheels finished in a Tech Bronze. It’s a sharp-looking combination that definitely makes a statement, but apparently, it wasn’t enough to convince buyers to shell out a premium for the limited-run model.

The first owner didn’t skimp on options either when it came to this anniversary edition. Along with the $10,000 price tag for the limited-run model, they added several expensive extras, including $9,000 carbon ceramic brakes, two separate carbon fiber packages totaling over $11,000, a $1,450 sunroof, and $1,600 for performance data and video recording. The leather interior upgrade? That set the owner back a cool $8,090.

While the cabin of the CT5-V is not as plush as an M5, it certainly feel reasonably premium. There are plenty of carbon fiber accents found throughout, soft-touch leather, and carbon fiber backs on the front seats. It also rocks a 16-speaker AKF audio system, a 10-inch infotainment screen, a head-up display, and a 12-inch digital gauge cluster.

Powering the most powerful and fastest Cadillac production model in history at the time of its release is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, producing 668 horsepower (498 kW) and 659 lb-ft of torque (893 Nm). While a six-speed manual was also available, this particular model comes with the less desirable 10-speed automatic.

} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“9b1169d9-7a89-4971-a77f-1397f7588751”);
}
});

With just around 3,600 miles on the odometer at the time of sale, this Blackwing has hardly been broken in, yet it still failed to make the impact Cadillac was hoping for on the collector market.
